Honda Asimo Robot conducts Detroit Symphony Orchesta

By Simon James | May 15, 2008

080514_robot_conductor.jpgJust watched this video of Asimo, Hondas amazing automaton, conducting the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Whilst there are quotes from members of the orchestra speaking highly of Asimos conducting skills I can’t help but notice a huge communication handicap. Asimo has no face so is unable to convey much emotion making it hard to read what he/she is thinking. So no delighted looks when the horn section is on form and no looks of thunder when the percussionist misses a triangle hit.

Anyway I do enjoy watching Asimo and  he is a fantastic achievement.
