Honda Asimo Robot conducts Detroit Symphony Orchesta
By Simon James | May 15, 2008
Just watched this video of Asimo, Hondas amazing automaton, conducting the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Whilst there are quotes from members of the orchestra speaking highly of Asimos conducting skills I can’t help but notice a huge communication handicap. Asimo has no face so is unable to convey much emotion making it hard to read what he/she is thinking. So no delighted looks when the horn section is on form and no looks of thunder when the percussionist misses a triangle hit.
Anyway I do enjoy watching Asimo and he is a fantastic achievement.
