My Noisy Muxtape

By noisymatchbox | June 12, 2008

Here’s part two of the hip hop muxtape. Bit short of time, so less text, but surely this music can speak for itself.

Track 1 - Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock

This is the first record I tried to properly mix with at an event our school had organised - DJ’s, Emulator Samplers, 808/909 drum machines - my first real taste of stuff I wanted to be playing with.

Track 2 - Beastie Boys feat Q-Tip - Get it together

Probably my favourite Beastie Boys track
Track 3 - Jungle Brothers - Got it like that

Afrika Baby Bam and Mike Gee MC on one of the stand out tracks from Straight out the jungle.

Track 4 - Charizma - My World Premiere

This track came out in 96 - the first release on Peanut Butter Wolf’s Stones Throw Records. Charizma was killed in a mugging in 1993.

Track 5 - Souls of mischief - ‘93 till infinity

Bit of a one hit wonder - shame, because this track is a classic.

Track 6 - Pharoe Monch - Simon Says

This reminds me of the 4 years I produced a hip hop radio show and ran a weekly night at the Jazz Rooms in Brighton - very happy days. I put the radio version up, so as not to offend.

Track 7 - People under the stairs - San Francisco Knights

First met these guys when they had their first record out - they came and performed it live on our radio show - I loved their early stuff, and this is my favorite.
